Why De Novo?

De novo means afresh. We started from what the examinations test and how they are marked, then organised the law around that, rather than around a textbook.

Everything here is original writing, each page shows its review status, and we do not publish pass rates, testimonials or fees that we cannot document.

Questions, answered

What is De Novo Law Academy?

De Novo is an educational website for Bangladesh's law examinations: the Bangladesh Judicial Service (BJS) examination, the Bar Council advocate enrolment examination and LL.B coursework. It publishes programme guides, course outlines, study notes, bare-act pointers, a legal dictionary, model answers and articles.

Is the website free to read?

Yes. Everything on this website is public and free to read. There are no accounts, logins or payments. Details of any classes or fees will be published on the Fees page only when the academy confirms them.

Which programme should I choose?

Choose BJS if you are preparing for the judicial service examination, Bar Council if you are preparing for advocate enrolment, and LL.B if you are still studying. Most core subjects overlap.

Are your materials taken from official past papers?

No. Notes, model answers and explanations are written by the De Novo editorial team. They are not official questions. Always check the current syllabus and rules with the Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission or the Bangladesh Bar Council.

What does a page's review status mean?

Each educational page shows whether it is an editorial draft, awaiting legal review, or reviewed. Nothing is marked reviewed unless a named reviewer has signed it off.

Where can I find exam dates?

On the official websites of the BJSC and the Bar Council. The Exam routines page links to both. De Novo does not republish dates.
